MARCH 13, 2009 Theory 1:Dance Benefit Evening 5 Performances, 3 Consciousnesses + 90 Minute Dance Party Conduit Dance, 918 SW Yamhill, Portland 7:30pm til 10:00pm, Donation $10-$100 Join Theory 1:Dance Artistic Directors Meshi Chavez and Tracy Broyles for snacks and beverages, DJ Winky Wheeler and performances by Theory 1: Dance, Lanie Bergin, Woolly Mammoth Comes to Dinner, Jen Warnock and Oslund+Co to benefit Theory 1: Dance's new work "I want to stop wanting," premiering at the end of April at Disjecta. This project is partially funded by RACC and features dancers Lucy Yim, Meshi Chavez, Mark Kline, Tracy Broyles and a sound score by Composer/Musician, lyd. Mary Oslund has collaborated with composer Darrin Verhagen (Australia), visual artist Christine Bourdette (Portland), and lighting designer Jeff Forbes (Portland) in creating this work for the eight dance artists of the Company and performed in a rectangle viewed from all sides. Anatomica is a filmic look at the living world through layers of an endless story, one which reveals the expressive and athletic capabilities within animated figures and scenes. Funding is partially and generously provided by Portland Community College, Oregon Arts Commission, Multnomah County Cultural Commission, and The Kinsman Foundation. Dancers include Amber Baker, Rinda Chambers, Jessica Hightower, Keely McIntyre, Jim McGinn, Eric Nordstrom, Michelle Rogers, and Vanessa Vogel. A master class with Mary Oslund happens Tuesday May 12, late afternoon for PCC students. Collaborators include Christine Bourdette, visual artist (Portland OR) and Darrin Verhagen, composer (Australia). |
